As a kid growing up in Honduras, I really wanted to learn to play the piano and the guitar. But, there were no means for private lessons, nor even having access to a piano or a guitar. So instead, I followed Sister Karla around the Sisters of Notre Dame convent waiting for any and every chance to hear her play the piano and make music. Since then, I have been determined to help other children in getting access to what they need. I also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from a Honduras’ University.

Once in America, I continued to follow my passion and determination for empowering people. Because education is so important to me, I studied for and earned a certificate as a Global Career Development Facilitator.

After witnessing the struggles children of immigrant families must endure, my husband and I created and funded scholarships to help families. Our scholarships helped underage mothers and kids of farmworkers. There is nothing better than seeing the happy face of a student getting a first pair of cleats, or seeing another student finally be able to do their school homework from home, with their child next them, because they owned their own computer at last!

When not working or volunteering, I enjoy spending time on my farm with friends and family, playing tricks on Nandi, my black lab, and experimenting in the kitchen. I also enjoy using my Spanish language skills whenever and wherever possible to help others.
