Raine Welterlen
Instructor
She/TheyAbout Raine Welterlen:
Raine teaches piano and voice lessons but also plays the ukulele and trumpet. They are an experienced audio engineer, songwriter, and arranger as well. She expects students to come to lessons with enthusiasm, a desire to learn, and trust that the work she has them do will bring them closer to their musical goals. Students are encouraged to work on music they love, as techniques and concepts applicable to any style of music. Raine loves seeing the moment a student succeeds at something they’ve been struggling with. Seeing them realize they can do more than they ever imagined is an important lesson in many aspects of life, not just music.
Like many kids, Raine Welterlen started singing around the same time they started to talk. She began private piano lessons at the age of five and continued until their graduation from high school. She started her college career at University of Iowa for classical trumpet performance, but eventually found their way to Clackamas Community College where they earned their Associates in Music Performance and Technology. At Clackamas they studied jazz and contemporary styles of music on voice and trumpet. She went on to complete her Bachelors of the Arts in Music Performance and University Honors at Portland State University.
