Noelia Samaniega
Instructor
She/HerHello! My name is Noelia Samaniega, I am fluent in English and Spanish, and I specialize in teaching piano and voice. Over the past six years, I’ve been an integral part of my church’s worship team, which led me to have the role of a worship leader. My passion for music education led me to teach piano and vocal classes to various age groups at schools and have loved every minute of it! Becoming a music teacher has been a lifelong dream of mine and I feel incredibly fortunate to realize this dream through the Youth Music Project. Additionally, I’m a dedicated songwriter aiming to connect with others through my music. It’s a privilege to share my songs with people by traveling to different parts of the world to perform.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching the fundamentals of music is the most important part of one’s musical journey because it is needed to succeed as a musician. Teaching my students to also have patience with themselves as they learn an entirely new instrument is an important part of learning the fundamentals of music. The fundamentals can be rather tedious, but I like to figure out a way to make the so-called “boring” parts of music, fun and exciting!
What is your favorite thing about teaching music?
The excitement on a student’s face, seeing themselves getting better at their instrument, is the most rewarding thing about teaching music. As a music instructor, I see where the students start in their musical journey and how much they improve with time. Learning something new is a tedious process, but being able to be a part of that process and see that the hard work is paying off will always be my favorite part.
What does music mean to you?
I came across a quote by Georgia Cates: “Music is what feelings sound like.” Ever since then, I could finally put into words what music means to me. Music is where I find my purpose in life. It is what makes me realize that I am not alone because it can express everything that I can’t.
Why is music education important?
Music education is extremely important because it allows people with the desire to learn an instrument to be able to do so with the help of music educators who are eager to share their musical knowledge with people with a passion for music. It allows people to expand their creativity and use their talents to create something beautiful through music.
