Taylor Swift Camp (Aug. 19-23)

You shouldn’t be surprised when sparks fly, curly locks flow and boots stomp at YMP’s Taylor Swift themed camp.  Romeos and Juliettes of all levels will take inspiration from Taylor’s songs to find their musical passion.  From “Tear Drops on my Guitar” to “We Are Never Getting Back Together,” this camp will focus on the musical and song writing stylings of Taylor Swift.

Beginners will use Taylor’s songs to learn the ins and outs of music including basic drums beats, guitar riffs and piano chords. Students will also study Taylor’s unique song writing style and will have a chance to work with instructors on writing a song of their own.

More experienced musicians will work on their musical skills through T-Swift lenses as well.  Playing a Taylor Swift song or breaking down her song structure to make their own, students will bring their musical talents to new heights.  Infused with a country-pop twang, this camp is sure to make any music lover wonderstruck.

The Instrument Specific option for each camp will play songs by the specific band, theme or artist but instead of playing with a band they take classes together with students who are playing the same instrument as them (guitar, drums or piano).  This option is ideal for students who are new to their instrument and is open to student who are entering Kindergarten-12th Grade in the Fall.

The Rock Band option for each camp will play songs by the specific band, theme or artist and will play as a full band.  This option is ideal for students who have a little more experience on one of the instruments used in the rock band (guitar, drums, piano, bass or voice) but is not necessary.  This option is only open to students who are entering 3rd-12th Grade in the Fall.
