Michael started playing guitar at the age of 11 when he begged his parents to buy him one for his birthday. After a few years of practice, Michael started playing shows with other young musicians of his own age. In 2009, he got together with 3 of his other friends and formed a music group that would enter the Portland Mercury Talent Show and win.
Ever since he started playing guitar, Michael has opened and played with many local bands and artists. In 2010, Michael played at the Bumbershoot festival in Seattle with the Portland SOR music program. He got to play a few songs with Nick Harmer from Death Cab for Cutie on stage, and played at the EMP Sky Church. Michael currently goes to West Linn High School, and has taken college level Music Theory Classes through the Choral Director Barb Fontana.
Last year he played guitar for the West Linn High School Jazz Choir, and won an outstanding soloist award at the Clackamas Community College Jazz Festival. Michael spends the majority of his musical time recording, performing, and writing songs. He recently opened for the Phoenix based band Andrew Jackson Jihad playing guitar for the band Kind of Like Spitting.
