Levi Cecil

Levi has been performing with bands in the NW since 1994.  He started playing music at the age of 8, playing viola, then cello with elementary and junior high school orchestras.  When he was 10 years old, his Dad gave him an electric guitar, and he never looked back.  He formed my first band when he was 14 and  quickly realized that there was a serious lack of bass players in our town, so he bought a bass and learned to play it.  Since his parents allowed him to soundproof and practice in his basement, he also had access to the band’s drum kit.  He thought he should learn to play the drums, too, just in case.

Throughout Levi’s years in bands, he has always been a multi-instrumentalist.  He has always viewed the different instruments as different sized paintbrushes or colors on the pallet. No single brush or color is more important than any other. They all work together to create the painting, or in this case, the song!

Every summer since 2006, he has worked at the Rock N’ Roll Camp for Teens in Pendleton, Oregon and in 2011 he volunteered as a teaching assistant at Ethos Music Center in Portland.  Levi is looking forward to utilizing what he has learned from these experiences at Youth Music Project, and help kids become better musicians.

Levi is an alumnus of the Portland bands Heroes & Villains, Brothers Young, Portland Ukulele Project, and AgesandAges. He also produces his own music under the names Leviethan and Deep North.
